For the first time in history, an Argentine player participated in the most prestigious tournament on the chess circuit. At just 11 years old, Fausti competed in the Challengers section alongside the following players: GM Thai Dai Van Nguyen, GM Frederik Svane, GM Nodirbek Yakubboev, GM Ediz Gürel, GM Aydin Suleymanli, GM Erwin l'Ami, GM Benjamin Bok, GM Kazybek Nogerbek, IM Divya Deshmukh, GM Vaishali Rameshbabu, IM Arthur Pijpers, IM Faustino Oro, IM Lu Miaoyi, and IM Irina Bulmaga. Despite facing older and more experienced opponents, Fausti demonstrated his talent and determination throughout the event. Over the course of the 13 rounds, he achieved 3 victories, 1 draw, and 9 losses. In the third round, he earned his first victory against Romanian International Master Irina Bulmaga. In the sixth round, playing with the black pieces, he defeated Indian International Master Divya Deshmukh (2490 Elo). He secured a third victory against Chinese player Lu Miaoyi, showing his progress and adaptability during the tournament. He also drew against Dutch player Arthur Pijpers, proving his ability to compete on equal terms with experienced players. The experience gained in such a highly competitive environment will undoubtedly be invaluable for his future development in chess.
