The traditional event featured four outstanding grandmasters in a knockout format: Jaime Santos (Spain), Lê Quang Liêm (Vietnam), Kirill Alekseenko (Austria/Russia), and Faustino Oro (Argentina). The title was claimed by Spain's Jaime Santos, who won the León Masters for the second time, adding to his 2023 triumph after delivering a consistently strong performance throughout the tournament. Although Fausti was eliminated in the semifinals, his performance left a positive impression. He competed on equal terms for long stretches of the match against an experienced opponent and rapid chess specialist. Once again, he showcased his tactical ability and creativity over the board, gaining another valuable experience against top-level international players.
